Inside The Spread

About Our Texas Rigs

What are Texas Rigs?

Delta Rigging is by far not the first decoy rigging solution company and certainly won't be the last. Early designs of texas rigs were being utilized in the 60's, then gaining more popularity in the 90's. Now, they are one of the most popular ways for hunter's to rig their spreads over water.

Texas rigs were designed to solve the issues hunters faced with traditional decoy rigging which took lots of time and caused lots of tangling. The texas rigs are essentially oversized fishing leaders with a weight at the bottom and a free sliding snap swivel that hooks to the keel of decoys. This allows for quicker setting out and picking up the spread. In addition to time efficiency, they are much more tangle-free compared to traditional rigging methods. Long gone are the days of using the old tarred string with rusty bolts and concrete weights.

Why use our texas rigs?

ALL of our texas rigs at Delta Rigging are MADE BY HAND and MADE IN LOUISIANA. We believe that quality begins with the hands that make it. Every single rig is measured, cut, and assembled by hand. At Delta Rigging, we strive for excellence and efficiency. We are still making improvements to our products and have no plans to settle.

Many different companies are sourcing their rigs from foreign countries and claiming to have the best rigs on the market. We won't make the claim that we have the best texas rigs. We want the quality of our products and customer testimonies to speak for themselves. We have tested our products to the limits to ensure they will accomplish the tasks they were designed to do without failure, time after time.

Our Texas Rig Line Up

  • Carabiner & Tab Band

Each dozen texas rigs we sell come standard with a 5-1/2 inch carabiner and our innovative Tab Band.

The carabiner makes the process of placing and picking up your decoys much more efficient.

The Tab Band makes storing your decoys as painless as ever once it is wrapped around the base of your rigs just above your decoys. It keeps them held together without having to tie any knots in your leader.

  • Snap Swivel

Snap swivels attach to the keel of your decoy allowing it to move freely up and down the leader. It is self-adjusting to water depth and also allows room for the wind or current to move the decoy.

The reason we chose to go with the beefy 275 lb coast-lock snap and barrel swivel is because they have proven themselves. After surviving our torture tests and many years in the field, we felt there was no need to change.

  • Flat Weights

There are numerous styles of weights for texas rigs. While those many styles do work, the unique flat weights have proven to us to be the best all-around option. Whether you are hunting marsh, rivers, or flooded timber, these weights perform. They won't roll like egg weights do in current or wind. They also are very weedless by design compared to mushroom weights. The small lip also helps prevent the weight from sliding in the wind or current.
